Twin Spurs Ranch Co. was built on hard work, friendship, and a deep love for the western way of life.

My name is Kristen, and my background is rooted in accounting. I started young, working for my family’s construction company before opening my own accounting business. Though I didn’t grow up in the western world, I did grow up riding — competing in eventing (dressage, cross-country, and show jumping) through the West Coast Young Rider and Junior Olympics programs. When our family sold the construction business, I stepped away from horses to focus on my career, but it didn’t take long to realize that life without them wasn’t where I belonged.

A few years ago, I found my way back — and into the western community — and immediately felt at home. I bought my team roping horse, Stick, in Arizona and began spending winters traveling between Oregon and Arizona to learn to rope.

During that time, I began doing the accounting for a ranch family and became close friends with their daughter, Emilia. Their family raises grass-fed and finished Black Angus beef, free from hormones, antibiotics, and vaccines. Emilia, who works in the medical field, often shared her desire to spend more time at home with her young daughter and to homeschool her. That inspired the idea for a tallow business that could provide additional income to the ranch while giving her flexibility to be home and involved with her child. Around the same time, the owner of a small tallow company I loved, Tanzley Tallow Co., announced she was stepping away from production. I’d been using her products for about a year and couldn’t find anything that compared. After reaching out to her, she agreed to sell me her formulas — and that’s where Twin Spurs Ranch Co. truly began.

As I learned more about tallow production, I realized how little transparency there was in sourcing. After calling several local butchers, I discovered that most couldn’t confirm whether their suet came from 100% grass-fed, grass-finished cattle. Because we raise our own beef, we can — and that traceability is what sets our products apart. From birth to butcher, we know exactly where our tallow comes from and can stand behind the purity and integrity of every batch we make.

We’re also committed to continual improvement. While essential oils have been a beautiful part of our formulations, we’re transitioning to using herbal infusions instead. Infusions are gentler on the skin, capture the full benefits of the whole plant (not just its aromatic compounds), and create a more balanced, nutrient-rich product that supports skin health in a natural way.

As the business grew, I saw how many small makers in Oregon faced challenges bringing their own products to market. With my background in accounting and retail systems, we added The Ranch Market section to feature and sell goods from other western-based small makers — both online and at the markets we attend. That same creative spirit also led to our embroidered apparel line, including our “Jesus, Cowboys, and Turquoise” design — a small project that’s become a meaningful part of our brand’s identity.

Today, Twin Spurs Ranch Co. continues to grow with a focus on quality, integrity, and transparency — from our ranch-raised tallow skincare to our handcrafted items. Every product reflects hard work, the western lifestyle, and the values that built it.
